Thought I would share a bit of tradition, its that time of year, my favorite time. I encourage all to contribute if you feel like it. Please all leave the guff out, this is just fun..
To start things out, I put about 15,000 lights up this time of year. I wrap all my trees, cactus and every part of my house. I was raised with my father doing the same thing, it puts the season in full for me.
We always go to Cocanino National Forest to cut a live tree, you have to purchase a permit. We went up Saturday, cut our tree, then stayed the rest of the weekend in Payson. We always bring the whole family. Two of my first cousins, with their spouses and kids. My father and his Wife go, as well as my sister and several family friends. This year our convoy was 6 trucks. We all cut out trees then kill the day playing in the snow (provided there is snow fall). This year was great as it snowed on us while we were cutting.
Starting today I get my wife and kids, (10 days prior to Christmas) and we get out the needle and thread and make a string of popcorn to wrap the Christmas Tree. We continue each night finishing on Christmas eve. Very tedious, but much fun.
And to cap things off, my Grandmother (98 years old) always bakes 350 sugar cookies. We all go to her house the weekend prior to Christmas and decorate the cookies. Everyone we know gets a plate, and even if we dont know you, you may get one. We decorate them with icing bags full of different colors. Santas get red coats, white sashes and Black boots.
To sum it all up, my family is very full of traditions that have been going for many generations. Thought I would share with all of you, and again please feel free to post yours.
