Elegance trouble !!

Hi All, Two quick questions.. This elegance has been opening beautifully for 4 months... now all of a sudden has been looking slowly like this... do I need to bury his skeleton in the sand bed? I do have a hard time feeding him because he sits so high... He's also really close to the glass..perhaps I should move him off of it?
I should also mention.. to day is water change day and I was thinking of adding more sand to his side of the tank so I can put him deeper?
