Strange White Sponge Looking Growth

I recently added some live corals, fish, and live rock. Unfortunately, I have a full fish kill after 13 years with minimal to no loss. In a last ditch effort to safe the remaining 5 fish, I quarantined them all to individual tanks and all but 1 died. This all happened within a few weeks (i.e. 15 or so fish...and now only 1 which is still quarantined). The coral and anemones appear fine.

I want on a vacation for a week and came back to find my 150 gallon saltwater aquarium to have a strange white growth on the class at the top of the tank (as if the growth needed be close the air).

I was unable to find any picture which really resembled this growth.

I assume the "kill" was related to a parasite as I didn't quarantine the 2 new fish added...but now I wonder if its related to this "white growth". The one in the photo is 1 inch by 3 inches....and one in the tanks still is about the size of a quarter. These both appears while I was on vacation...over the course of one week. Should I purge these things from my tanks asap? Thought about what it is and what to do would be greatly appreciated.
