How to drill large dia (1.5") hole in acrylic?

I've looked everywhere and can't figure this out.

Best way to drill large diameter holes for acrylic? These would be 1.5" holes for bulkheads for my overflow.

I keep seeing: "pilot hole, then increase in size stepping up to the next largest" as being standard practice. But that doesn't work on large diameter holes (hole saw size)

I've drilled glass just fine, so acrylic should be a breeze, right?

Can I use a diamond hole saw on acrylic w/out melting it or ruining the hole saw?

Or standard hole saw?

Any tips, advice, or links would be greatly appreciated.
