Switching skimmers?

Would it be possible to put my Tunze nano DOC 9002 into my 40 gallon from my 40b reef tank and then replace it with a used coralife 65 skimmer? Would switching skimmers between tanks shock the reef tank? The second 40 gallon is not stocked.
