I was hopping someone could give advice. I have aptasia and use aptasial x to help control the situation. My tank is a 90 with a 60ish gallon fuge. 1.025, 8.5dkh, mag 1325. cal 410, temp 77, po4 is .25. 0 for others. 5-6 inch deep sand bed established for 2 years.
I want to remove all the live rock and dry them out for some time then use them as dead rock. I will use some dead rock for the fish to hide in. Is this something possible? I cant use peppermint shrimp, my melanurus wrasse will devour them, I have tried. So I don’t know of another way of removing the aptasia but start over. I would have to remove my algae from the sump because there are some in there to, which is fine to get new stuff anyway.
I have some coral that are attached to the rock but would have to sacrifice to remove the rock. Or maybe in a small tank and use aptasia x on it until all of it is dead.
Has anyone removed all the live rock and started over with dead to prevent hitchhikers? I have no way of transferring the fish to a tank to keep them until cycle is done. If I do this should I just do larger and more frequent water changes? I know removing all the rock will "crash" the tank but I have live rock in the fuge that is clean with no aptasia on it. If I remove my live in the display and add dead to the fuge to get bacteria growing on it it should help with keeping the tank stable.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
