Hello All,
I'm having some trouble keeping alkalinity levels above 7.5-8 currently. The levels steadily decline after weekly water changes and checking (Salifert test kits) every other day. I'm currently doing 150ml/day using BRS additives. It seem that no matter how much I increase the dosing, the alkalinity stays the same. Calcium remains at a consistent 420ppm and Mg levels stay close to 1400ppm.
The additives are dosed using BRS 1.1ml/min pumps controlled by Apex at 10hr cycles doing on the hour. The additives enter the tank in my sump just after the filter socks. I do notice that when alkalinity is dripping, it somewhat takes a "grainy" consistency when entering the water column. Do you feel this could be the problem? Is not mixing well enough? Water comes from the returns crashing into the filter socks, but the socks do slow the water turbulence quire a bit. Just troubling as Calcium seems to be at ok levels.
My tank is only 2 months old with a few moni cap and birdsnest frags and some acan frags. Thanks for your help.
