Thoughts on Uronema

After getting urenoma in my QT tank from my 5 chromis, I have been researching this thing pretty heavily on how I can take care of it. Two of the fish have died, but the remaining 3 have been fighting it off for a few weeks at this point and show zero signs.

They have gone through a prazi treatment and melafix, but those do nothing in regards to urenoma. It is my understanding that urenoma is kind of a free floating opportunist. It lives off the bacteria and other things in the tank, so leaving it fallow would not get rid of it either. The only two methods that I've seen people push is Formalin and chloroquine phosphate baths and TTM. These work by essentially making sure that you kill any urenoma and avoid it by from being transferred with the fish to the next tank.

So that leads me to the next question, wouldn't a freshwater dip effectively accomplish the exact same thing? Wouldn't putting the fish in freshwater for 3 minutes essentially kill any of it that may be on their skill and then moved to the next tank assuring that none of it can follow
