So the family is taking a 6 day vacation for the holiday, so I have been thinking about my plan for leaving the tank. I have a slight hair algae problem (not really a problem yet) that I believe is do to the nitrate spike a week or so ago. (likely caused by my overfeeding and over lighting) I was planning to leave the lights on a 4-6 hour schedule while im gone, but was wondering if I should cover the tank to eliminate any light exposure, and hopefully put a dent in the hair algae? I know my few softies will close up, but I don't foresee that harming them for just a few days. Any thoughts or experience with this?
