Snowflake Eel can't swallow

I purchased a Snowflake eel (?) 5 days ago, without knowing what kind of eel it was. The eel is 18 inches long. He is in a predicament and I'm wondering if it is an emergency. He attempted to eat a little stubby gray algae eater!! He can't swallow it. It is in past his jaws except for a small piece of tail. Plus he is in fresh water!!?
