Algae wafers?

Hi everyone!
So I have a green BTA and a Maroon Anemonefish.
As of late my Maroon has been feverishly picking up the pieces of algae wafer that I supplement with and feeding them to the BTA. The BTA (of course) spits it right out.
Is there anything I could do to discourage this behavior? SHOULD I be discouraging this behavior?

I feed the BTA a small piece of shrimp every few days using forceps, so I no he doesn't go hungry.
