Scwd closed loop head loss?

Been doing research and I decided to add a closed loop system to my 29g. I want to establish about 900gph in the CLS. I'm thinking of adding a SCWD but I see many conflicting reports. I don't know exactly how they work but I know there will be friction loss. So is there head loss on a closed loop with this added? If so how much.
