Need help with salinity

I have a 5 gallon nano and my salinity won't seem to go up. There aren't any livestock in there so it's ok for me to shan he salinity wuick right now. Everytime I add salt in the tank it doesn't seem to go up. My hydrometer seems to work just fine when I add salt directly into it. Do I just add more salt? My pump goes 53 g/phr
