Purple firefish people! How long did it take to see yours?

I recently got a purple firefish and since I put it in the tank have not seen it... even at feeding time. I had a red one long ago that was always out floating around. I know these fish don't typically come out for a while, but how long in your experience will it take for me to see him again? I'm trying not to worry about it in the meantime. Do they have a different temperament than the red ones?

I have a canopy on my tank and if he did jump he would just hit my light fixture so there really is no way out unless I was doing work on the tank and had the front doors open, which I would notice. He didn't find his way in the overflow to the sump either.
