Cleaning Algae from front of glass!!!

I'm curious what others do when cleaning coraline algae from the front glass. I like to clean the front of the glass after a nice water change. Then, shut off the skimmer and any reactors to allow the coraline algae to circulate through the water column after I scrape it off.

Is anyone else on this same train of thought, or am I crazy?
