Sump Setup Question

Hi,

I'm setting up a 75 gallon display tank with a 55 gallon sump, since my old 55 gallon is now lying around. I plan to place a return pump and heater immediately, as well as some macro algae to help filtration. My big question is, with only a few fish, during the cycling process, do I need a large protein skimmer or is that a purchase that can wait a few months down the road?

Also, assuming my local shop is steering me in the right direction of dual drain 1" drain lines and a 48" spray bar return, is there anything equipment wise I'm missing that I NEED to set up this tank.

Also, thoughts on not going the sump route? Seems like it's rather on the expensive side.

Thanks in advance guys, been keeping freshwater fish for some time now and this is my first dive into saltwater, though I do help care for a 200 gallon tank that separates my and a co-worker's office at work.
