How much table salt should I add to a 55 gallon tank before I can grow sponges?

I'm a guy living on the Outer Banks of NC.
My first experience with a saltwater tank was with a basic 55 gallon setup with local brackish fish. I would actually walk behind my apartment with a cast net and catch something for the tank. I had jumping mullet (which jump!), blue crabs (which escape!), a small sheepshead (which battled the blue crab), shrimp (the kind you get with a shrimp cocktail)...(They escape too!) :rotflmao:
Anyway, I don't know that I'll contribute anything significant to the forum, but I'm usually good for a random sarcastic comment here and there.
