Does anyone have experience with the Innovative Marine tanks?

I have had one running since October, the nuvo fusion 10, and the filtration seems to be pretty much non existent. Even after switching out the media basket for the upgraded version, it seems the water chooses the path of least resistance and goes around the media since the sponges were always completely clean. (I'd love to think that my water is just that perfect, but I know thats not the case) Right now I have a canister filter running on it which pretty much ruins the idea of a sleek looking all in one set up. Has anyone had a good experience with this system or found a better way of modifying it? Thanks!
