Hey all,
I appreciate all the tips I've received from this site over the years--and now am seeking suggestions from those with more experience than I. I have a 30 gallon self-contained nano tank with no modifications (built in sump, original lights). It's been up and running for two years old and contains one yellow watchman goby and his shrimp and one pajama cardinal as well as hermit crabs, live rock, live sand, and macro algae (the good, green kind). I have not been a great fishkeeper with this tank, but right now, it's suddenly flourishing--lots of tiny feather worms sprouting, some mushrooms that I'd despaired of coming back, and lots of codepods and other tiny creatures as well as cool white snail like creatures that come out at night (all except mushrooms being hitchhikers). I also have and have long had unwelcome algae (green/brown) that grows up, I pull it out, and it grows back. Since the tank seems to be doing well (but for this intrusion), I'm wondering if I should add critters to eat it, attempt to adjust water quality, or just accept it, and let it level out over some time. (I do feed very sparingly--maybe twice a week with small pellets and once a week a very small shrimp for the shrimp.) The water parameters test well--that is, ammonia at 0 and the salinity at 1.025. I've not been adding supplements but been using purchased freshwater and saltwater to change the water, mixing it as required to keep the salinity in order.
Thanks so much for your advice.
