Trying my hand at a Fresh water planted tank. Advice needed.

Ok, after 17 years doing salt, I have decided to try my hand at a planted aquarium and eventually adding discus. My tank is a 75 gal and I don't want it totally planted, but I want enough plants to make it natural looking. I am using my LED lights (dimmable) that were on my salt tank, so I can adjust the light as needed.

What I am needing advice on is whether or not I need to dose CO2 to the tank. ( I really don't want to mess with this if I don't have to). I also am not sure as to what kind of filtration is best and how strong a current I need for the tank.

I will not be adding discus to this tank for many many months until I master the ability to keep the water conditions constant and also the ability to keep everything in the tank alive.

The fish I plan on adding first are tetras and the like. No angelfish!

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

:)
