So long story short... A couple months ago I got a new Golden Retriever puppy and she has taken A LOT of my time, as to be expected. As a result my fish tank has been neglected. Right now it isn't too bad but I have always wanted to restart it since I inherited it from my GF and now seems like a good time. Tank is currently a 60g Deep Blue rimless frag tank.
I'd like to keep the fish I have but all the coral can go, and honestly the fish could go too if that is what is recommended, my GF would REALLY like to keep them. I'd like some input on my plan to make sure I do this right;
First I'll exchange all the coral and live rock at the fish store for credit.
Some PVC tube will be put in place for the fish. At that point it will just be a tank with fish and a shallow(.5"-.75" deep) special grade substrate. Have a shrimp and goby pair that will need the substrate.
Substrate will be siphoned weekly along with a 10g water change.
Running equipment would include;
2 Tunze 6095 pumps
2 AI Vega lights
1 Vertex Omega 150 Protein skimmer
Biopellet reactor running EcoBAK
Purchase base rock and cure it in a brute container for ever how long it takes (can look this up on the forum, I know it has been gone over extensively). After base rock has cured, put it in the tank. Seed the tank with a small piece of live rock for coraline algae.
At some point coral will be added to the tank.
Is this plan ok? Will I have issues trying to keep the fish and changing everything out? I am willing to go as slow as I need to in order to make this tank as successful as possible.
