Power head

I have a 20 gal tank with a hang on water filter. What would be the best power head for the tank. Also I'm in the begging stages on my cycle would it be better to run both I believe it would or should replace hang on with power head. I just don't wanna lose what bacteria I've started in my filter. Thanks for any help.
