Urgent- birdsnest RTN with small black bugs. Oh god.
Recently I have developed a Rapid Tissue Necrosis of my Birdsnest.
Its just a few pieces, like 4 inches long, so I am debating if I should just trash them to avoid them spreading to my monties. The monties are on a frag rack, so luckily they have escaped the Tissue Necrosis for now.
I think I may have some unwanted pests. At night when I shined a flashlight on them, small black bugs race away. Any ideas on what this could be? Lucky my montis are still on the frag rack, far away from the birds nest.
My tentative plan of action is to just trash the Birdsnest; its just small pieces and easily replaceable.
Will trashing the Birdsnest starve out these god**** pests? Or will they go looking for my Monties! Help!
Tank Specs:
Calcium 400
Salinity: 1.025
Nitrate/Phosphate/Nitrite/Ammonia: 0 (Red Sea)
40 Gallon including Sump
Temperature: 78-81 (Apex)
Lighting: Ocean Revive retrofitted in hood
Rock: 4 lb tonga, 10 lb pukani.
The minerals and other aspects are maintained using bi-weekly 5 gallon water changes.
I don't believe anything has changed recently, so do not know where the evil black bugs from hell have come from. Perhaps they lie dormant in wait? Help!
