Hello all!!!! Long time no see!!!
I haven't had a reef tank since I sold the 180 about 10ish years ago, and I was thinking about setting up a little nano because I really miss it, but in talking with the wife she said that she would rather see me setup the 75 salt than setup a Nano :blob:
I'm getting really excited about this :D
I have 2 main concerns right now, Noise and Light.
First, Light.
The tank vision is much like what I had with the 180, SPS up top, LPS in the middle, and Softies at the base.
I still have the 4x54W T5 Tec HO retrofit kit I used on my 55, is this still considered decent light for a mixed reef? I do have a PAR meter which I didn't have before, what kind of PAR numbers should I be shooting for?
Second, Noise. This is important if my wife is going to like the tank. I plan to box in the stand, but is there any sound deading material that I can use to further reduce noise? I will drill the tank, and have redundant drains with a fairly slow (300gph ish) overflow to ensure that the splashing noise will be kept to a minimum, but is there anything else I can do to keep this thing as close to dead silent as possible?
This tank is currently FW and has an Apex controller, so this should be a fun build. Autotopoff will be important to keep the splashing noise down as well. I don't plan on a CA reactor at first, but if I find one cheap I already have the PH probe and CO2 system from the existing high tech FW tank.
Thanks for the help!
