Fish surviving house fire

I remember about ten years ago I watched my friends house burn to the ground. I remember going through the rubble and finding the aquarium still standing and several fish still alive. A lion fish and a few others. I don't know if they survived long term but I was impressed. How is that even possible? Obviously it was a glass tank, not acrylic but how did the stand survive? I feel like the stand was a regular wooden stand!
