The Sea Anemone, a discussion, An all about them kindve thing

Hello again TRT faithfuls, and guests. The number one reason I decided to get into this hobby was because my friend, a few years ago, had this beautiful, pearl white anemone. It was about 6 inches from foot to the tip of his tentacles, while his tentacles alone were around 2-3in long and probably as wide as a #2 pencil. It was a sight, probably why I liked his torch so much... Ive come upon my 6 month birthday of my tank, upgrading to a 90g in the coming months, things will change yes, things will be setup differently, no doubt, and more equipment such as a skimmer, ato and a few different lights will be added. In due time, a nem.

With everything ive been reading lately, all the old-new-found knowledge trt's faithfuls have dug up for us as well as the countless archives (ok ill admit, I didn't dig thru the archives for nem info..) available, I really haven't seen any good info on anemones.

What are they, flow, light, nutrients, phosphates, rocks or sand, acclimation, light cycles, natural habitat, natural predators, prey, food, location, location, location.

So lets start with the basics. Wikipedia, I thought had a great page on them for what their worth:

I didn't read past the first page because im really tired right now, plus I did do a lil searching and reading before writing this and ive been up for quite some time. But, ill throw one thing out there, according to Wikipedia they are LPS. So lets go on with a lil thread that provides educational value that we can all look back to, because knowledge is the best thing to have in our hobby.

So I just ask, if your going to say something about nems, be able to support it. Personal testimonies are okay, but the purpose of this thread is to try and bring to the table scientific or hard proof data to help all of us understand the unknown better. The second purpose is to share personal experience on what does and does not work. Do remember there will always be exceptions to the rule, truths to the unknown and scientific stuff that's hard to find.

Here are a few questions ill leave you with.

What are the ideal conditions to keep nems in the hobbyist's reef and does it vary from one type of nem to another?

What environment can we find nems in out in the vast sea?

What is their main and secondary food or energy sources?

Also, if you can provide any informational links on Nems, they are greatly appreciated.
