A heads up for newbies like me, green hair algae and temp

So as my aquarium hits 140 days old today, I had some small green hair algae a few days ago and now some I would consider a minor invasion. I've been fishless for almost a week now and was feeding every other day. Nitrates are 20-40 and phosphate is still 0.25 or lower.

It seems this is another stage of the uglies about one month after the last stage of uglies!! There are no hard timelines in this hobby (I like hard timelines) and this seems to be another example. I'm almost to the six month mark and whammo, another algae outbreak.

Before this outbreak I was feeding black worms every other day and none would get past the fish or shrimp I did just go Radion's 10 days ago so no doubt they are helping my problem.

On a second note, I installed my Ranco temp controller two weeks ago and don't know what I was doing without one. Also if your aquarium is in your basement, it gets -7 outside, prepare for heaters to work overdrive. My two 150w turned out not to be enough for my 90G. I now have a 150 and a 400w and temp is coming back up to 76 finally. Thanks to my temp controller, I don't have to worry about the heater size per se.
