they use API test kits as I do too, yesterday I tested 8.2-8.4 ph and 20 nitrates, I went to the LFS store today snd had them test for whatever else they could so I only got alk and kh tested this is what they were:
kh: 10-11
alk: 500
guy said alk was a lil high, would this be because of using tap water? I use top fin salt mix as well. I haven't done too much research on alk, kh, mg and all that as I don't have or plan to keep lps/sps. however having softies is this something I need to monitor? I know there is a tug'o'war between ph, alk and mg? is that right? and then they hit a sweet spot and kindve just stay there correct? so if alk is high do I need to do something about it if say in 3 months alk is still high?
