I have a two plus year old modded Oceanic 29 Gallon Biocube reef tank. A brief description of upgrades: Chamber one is empty but I did increase the opening which the water travels through for increased flow. Ditched bioballs and added In Tank media basket with just enough room left for a Tunze 9002 Protein skimmer in chamber Two. Chamber three has a marineland 1200 main pump for the increased flow and an oceanic UV sterilizer. I also gutted the cover leaving the reflector and added 7 12 inch Trulumen Pro LED strips. 2 Diamond white 12k ,3 50/50 and two deepwater blue so it seems as though I have plenty of light. I have a heat issue and although I did upgrade the original Oceanic fans to 18cfm silenx fans powered by a transformer down in the stand. Unless I run the house AC all summer with a fan blowing air at the tank it can get up 85 or more when the lights are on and the house is hot. SORRY FOR THE RANT :bigeek:.
I just received a new 1/15 Hp Arctica Titanium Chiller that I would like to install in the empty stand, I was thinking I would cut an opening in the back of the stand and butt the unit up against the opening so the heat goes straight out. I also will be adding a couple openings in each side of the stand with decorative covers for fresh airflow.
I need advice on an inexpensive external pump that could be mounted down in the stand that would push 110 to 160 GPH with a head height of perhaps 3 feet max. The other consideration is I saw ($35) an external inline pump made by Cobalt (EXT) which pushes 210 GPH what if anything will happen if I exceed the max 160 GPH to 210?
Thank you for your patience, the last question is since space in the back of the biocube is pretty much taken I thought I would drill the back of the cube cover and snake the chiller intake into chamber 2 for filtered water and return to chamber 3.
