I'm currently working only part-time and can't afford to burn thru salt. I'm setting up my 180g display tank + a 50g sump.... that equals 230g total water volume. I'm financially comfortable doing a 15g weekly water change on this 230g water volume. that equals around 6.5%.
QUESTIONS:
> Who came up with the 10%+ water change rule anyway?!? Some nice round number someone pulled out of the air?!?
> Will 6.5% water change be enough to maintain acans, zoas and chalices?
> I will have a calc-reactor supply calc & alk & mag. Can I get away with doing maybe a 10g weekly water change? (which would be a 4% water change)
