So, I am in a really good position to upgrade my tank, or completely over haul it within a couple of months. My wife and I agreed that I need a fish tank room in the basement of our new house when we buy one. I have a beautiful 90 Gallon tank with lots of corals, 3 RBTAs, and fat, happy healthy fish. Realistically we won't find a house for another 1-3 months, but I need as much advice and direction on how to go about this. Let me list what I have, what I want to fix, and then how I can fix them.
Equipment/livestock:
I have a 90 Gallon tank that I can't drill
HOB Overflow
20ish Gallon Sump
Vertex Omega 150 Skimmer
Rio 750GPH return pump,
2 Aqueon PH 900GPH, and 1500GPH
Custom 276W DIY LED Fixture from rapidled.com
Heaters
90lbs LR, 30lbs LS, 2 clowns, gramma, YWG, Engineer Goby, and a green chromis. 2 Mexican turbos, 1 emerald crab, 10-20 hermits blue, red, and black and white legged, and 1 red serpant starfish.
Current issues I would like to correct
I have been battling Razor Caulerpa in my tank for a while and it's a losing battle. About 3-4 months ago I bought a couple of fish from Petco which introduced a flatworm population in my tank. and just the other day I found bubble algae. I don't want to transfer a problem, but if that is unavoidable I can't help it. I am willing to even buy some new dry rock for the tank, but I want a stable environment for my fish and corals.
What I want to do/upgrade or overhaul
Right now the problems I am having are annoying but I am managing. The tank is set up right now and can stay put until I am ready to move everything over to the new house.
I want to build a new stand, or put the tank in the wall. That will depend on the house we get.
I am going to build a new sump for more room and functionality. probably a 40 Breeder.
Get new dry rock to replace the rocks in my tank.
Build I DIY rock lift for rock stability and better flow.
Kill the flatworms!
Buy a new Tank that I can drill and put overflows into.
I will be posting pics of the tank. I hope you all can come along and help me with my tank redesign/build. Now.... How do I get rid of my algae issues? I am willing to try just about anything. I just want my fish/inverts to be safe.
