I have started using kalkwasser in my ATO. My pH has finally become stable at 8.0. My alkalinity still fluctuates from 11 to 9 in a few days. Ca is maintained in a range of 420-440ppm
I want to make sure i am using kalkwasser right. I now mix 2 tsp to 1 gallon. My ATO is 4 gallons in size. My tank uses about 1.5 gallons a week. Every week when i do a water change I add to the ATO to bring back up to 4 gallons.
I am now reading kalkwasser becomes ineffectice when exposed to air after being mixed. Am I doing this wrong by just topping off my ATO reserve with fresh water and new kalkwasser? My ATO reserve is open top
