Can you run PhosGuard or another phosphate "reactor" without a reactor?
I have a 75 gallon, HOB skimmer, two powerheads, two heaters. NO Sump, No Fuge.
The reason why:
I've had high phosphates for awhile and though maybe it was my HOB filter harboring too much waste and filth in the media baskets, bottom and filters.
I drain my mysis and brine before adding it to the tank and only do pellets for my watchman goby.
When I clean my sand I clean all the way to the glass under the sand so I'm wondering if I am disturbing too much? Fish, xenia, clove polyps, starfish, corralline, sponges - all thriving and growing.
All my numbers are good except my Phosphates are like 2 on the Hanna tester but lower on the API kit.
