HELP! Hulk Acro bleaching?

Hey all...so first off, I've never owned an SPS coral before, but the coral store said the Hulk Acro does pretty well under most lighting types. I currently have it in a 5 gallon tank, with a 20w CFL 50/50 bulb. When I first put it in the tank, I had it very close to the top of the water...could this potentially cause the bleaching (is that what I'm seeing...)? I don't think that amount of light is TOO much for it, by far, but it is too much having it so close to the surface?
