hello guys.
i have a 180g reef tank with a 75 g sump. I've been having nitrates issues for a little while now, running at 5.0 ppm using api and now out of no where they have jumped to 20ppm!!! i have been doing water changes in 30 gallons increments. i recently did 3 water changes in a week which totals 90 gallons and it worked out pretty well but now i don't know why my nitrates are so high.
water changes are done on a weekly basis.
for salt i use tropic marin.
lights are hydra 52s which stay on for exactly 8 hrs with a 30 min ramp period.
I've been feeding once every other day due to algae growth. i feed pellets, brine and algae sheets.
for filtration im only using a filter sock(which gets replaced every 3 days due to the dirt) and a skimmer.
please share ur thoughts and let me know if you need more info in order to give me a better opinion as to what i should do. thanks.
