Hi all,
I am living in Taiwan, and speaking reef lingo in Chinese is a bit difficult. I have a new 10 G tank 2 weeks old, I bought a couple plants for it, live coral and with that came some crabs, etc (the coral must be hollow on the inside, as they were hidden for a week. The colt coral I bought was very large, to big actually and I read about fragging, so I cut this colt coral down to size. ( it was 14inches high, cut it to 8, and the limbs I shed some off as well. The base of this colt is 3 inches in diameter. When I did this, it was nasty, gucky and smelly. I cleaned up, did my first 10% water change and went about my evening. The next day the crabs had died (sadly) the other plant (not sure the variety tbh, it's fluorescent at the base with finger like coral that tucks into the tube when the light is off) was in and still is in the sleeping position. The tank is cloudy and smelly. I don't know how to make it clear again or if I can save this colt coral (which is now flaking to the touch) or the live coral.
I know I did something wrong, I just don't know how to fix it or if it can be fixed.'
The tank is one of those "all in one" type jobs. LED lights, the back is a full filtration system with a pump that is part of the inside of the tank.
