hey guys,
I made some weird fake rocks today. It was fun. Using up the leftover cement while my scape cures. And I didn't get any great stuff on my face this time, so that's a win. Here's some pics of how I did it
squirt the GS into the sand in a random shelfish shape, cover it well so there isn't any shiny parts cause nothing will stick there. It will poof out and get lumpy

if you press down on it while its poofing you will get a thinner shape that is still lumpy

mix thin, painty cement and fine sand

use a stiff garbage brush to paint all over it. the paint is to keep out UV that will break down the GS, but it makes it stronger too. its more like putting on joint compound than painting though, pressing into the sand thats caught on there.

cover the whole thing

then you can push more sand into it, or leave it smoother. this is a different one with just a little sand pressed on it

once they set they are quite hard, I was banging on the tile floor with it no problem. but also light as a feather. They are a kinda light grey, the iPhone camera doesn't show the color well. but I think you can dye crete, or just wait for stuff to grow on it. I wouldn't put much weight on it, even though it feels rigid. I think it will look nice sticking out of the rocks a little for some flair without worrying that it will fall over, or to block flow to a certain area, or to hide a power head.
I can't think of any reason not to use it, but let me know if you can.
