I have a ProClear 150 Skimmer that I am going to repurpose. It used a Catalina 2200 skimmer pump. I want to replace it with a nice skimmer pump but don't know what to replace it with. I have two of these skimmers and ZERO pumps. I want to turn on of these into a reactor, and reuse one as a skimmer. Does anyone have a better replacement skimmer pump option? The Catalina pumps have a lot of issues, and I want to explore new options. I was thinking about a Bubble Blaster pump possibly. a skimmer is only as good as the pump that drives it correct?
I currently have a Vertex Omega 150 skimmer on my tank now, but we are buying a new house. I am building a in wall tank with a fish room behind it. I will have multiple uses for a second skimmer. any advice will be appreciated. I am trying to save some money because I am buying a WP40 wave maker, more LEDs, more tanks, a new return pump, and .... a much larger more expensive house. this skimmer pump is more of a want than a need at the moment, but I don't want to waste money on another piece of junk skimmer pump like the one that came with it.
