Hey guys and gals.
I'll start off with a little background. I hadn't been frag shopping in a while and I'm still filling in my 90, so I went to the LFS yesterday and got a pocillopora frag and a mystic sunset monti cap. I added them yesterday around 6 and they looked great today.
Now, I was out at a party tonight, and when I came home the tank was dark except for 3 moonlights. So, as I always do when it is dark, I take a look at the nightlife. Well, I figured I'd better check on the new frags! And there it was. There was my single remaining emerald crab (which is pinkish so I think its actually a mithrax) sitting at the base of the monti cap. But he is not picking at the coral, just its disc. So, I figured I'd give it the benefit of the doubt and keep watching. Sure enough (Helen, you may want to stop reading here) he went an took a few nips at the pocillopora.
Naturally, I immediately I grabbed a cup and tried to pull him out. But he evaded me. He sunk back into the rockwork. I had been outsmarted by a crustacean with a brain smaller than a pea.
So, my question is, what can I do to get him out of there?? I have had other corals succumb to something which I can not probably attribute to this crab, emerald or otherwise. I only see him very rarely (maybe once a week?) so I'm thinking I'll have to try something sneaky. I mean, we are humans? We're supposed to be the superior species. You guys gotta have some ideas. I'm open to any suggestions!
