Cycling a tank with ot without filtration

Hi every1,



Im planning to build a reef aquarium, i was wondering during the cycling process, should i do it with the filtration system or add the filtration after i get my first fish. For filtration im not going to use a protein skimmer but i will be using poly filter pads.



And also should i cycle with the power head wave makers on or do it after cylcing has completed.
