aqua one g220 skimmer help

I have recently bought the above mentioned Skimmer and have had nothing but trouble with it so far ive never ran a skimmer before so this is probably my fault not the skimmers.



I want to know if I can modify the skimmers Inlet to have the pump outside the tank anx less Importantly could I modify the outlets so I can move it around outside the tank



Any help or advice would be appreciated :)
