Afternoon all,
Ive been running my marine tank for about 4 years and moved a year ago from a 29 to a 45. Mainly fish, but now have a torch and blue tipped anemone who seem to be thriving alongside bunch of 'srooms.
Equipment has been limited to hob gear and a canister and now its time to clean up the look of the display tank and move it all to a sump/fug setup. The other reason is I want to improve the quality of the water particularly persistent nitrate and phosphates (yes, i probably overfeed!).
Been researching the whole refugium thing, and still at a bit of a loss as to what size overflow box and return pump to get. I was looking at the following:
1 x cpr50s with lift pump (300gph)
1 x Reef Octopus Variable DC with controller (up to 790gph) to give me some tank/fuge growth potential. Also I can tune the return to match the overflow.
Fuge would ideally be the trigger systems Cube 20.
That would house my skimmer (I have a coral life that I haven't used, an aquamax hob running now), phosban reactor, and chiller. I would also run cheato in the 'fuge along with iive sand etc.
So finally to my question:
Is the overflow/return/fuge properly sized for what I am looking to do?
Fish load is quite light - 2 Clowns, 2 sulphur Damsels, 1 blue damsel, 1 Christmas Anthias,
2in sand bed, approx 40lbs live rock. (been running in the tanks for 4 years)
Appreciate any thoughts on the above
Best,
