new to the community :)

Hi all,

This is the first time that I have ever been on a forum. So I apologize in advance for all of the social mistakes I will make here. TL:dR: I like fish and have done a fair amount of research but still need a lot of help. :)

I've been running a ~40 gal saltwater tank for about 6 months now, although I had inverts for only 5 of those months, and fish for only 3.

Inverts:

two gsp coral frags, two zooantid frags (some green, some brownish-orange), and a small orange bubble tip.

Also have a fire shrimp, a small (porcelain? not sure) crab who hitchhiked in with the coral, and a pistol shrimp. I have never seen the pistol shrimp, but I hear him all the time -.-

Also have two conches.

Fish:
-Powder tang (#1 reason why I am joining this forum)
-Bicolor Pseudochroms
-2 Clownfish (I assume captive bred, because they're itty bitty)

Tank Specs:
-Found it on the street. Literally. It one of those glass bow-fronted tanks, and I an inept at math so I think it is somewhere around 40gal.

-Lots of liverock. Tbh I probably have way more liverock than I need.

-Tunze skimmer (does quite well. Here's to german machines )

-Generic glass heater

-Led light setup (don't have the specs on it, but its basically three rows of white light with two rows of blue light in-between. Its designed for a freshwater tank, but I am a poor college student and this was the best I could do.)

-2 fountain power heads. (as in literally, both came from a fountains that my parents jettisoned. Yay for free stuff! :) )

-1 Airstone and aerator.

So thats my family :) they have done reasonably well so far.

I do a 1/5 water change every other week, and pour in fresh water to balance out evaporation in the meantime. Someone should critique me on that because I know that there have got to be problems with it.
