I'm a fish fanatic. When I tell people that, they always give me this weird look like I'm crazy or something. I explain that there's cat people, dog people, horse people, ect. So why can't there be fish people?
I've had freshwater fish my whole life, starting with the ever dreaded carnival goldfish in a bowl. As I got older, I got into bettas. I never had a tank larger than 5 gallons though, my mom didn't permit it.
Anyhow, I now have my own apartment. I have 7 running freshwater tanks ranging from 5 gallons up to 55 gallons. I have an empty 75 gallon that's been sitting in my living room for about 6 months. It's going to be a saltwater tank eventually. I've been doing a lot of research about marine tanks trying to figure out what I all want to stock.
I seem to be pretty good at planted freshwater tanks. I have 4 of them that are either lightly planted or moderately planted. I added duckweed because someone sent it free with a plant order. I seriously regret it. Weekly maintenance for that tank now includes netting out the duckweed. I swear I take it all out but it always comes back. Like it's zombie duckweed or something.
My hobbies include video games, reading, being around animals, and lurking around the beach. I live by lake Michigan and like to go search for driftwood. I find that the best time to search for it is in the early spring right after the snow melts, but when it's still too cold for most people to be out and about. I found some awesome pieces last year. One in the shape of a giant coral. Sadly, it's way too big for one of my tanks.
And I just realized, I'm rambling. This was supposed to be just a "hi" but somehow turned into a short story. LOL
