Getting rid of copper on dead rock

Hello to all, I'm new to the saltwater world. Getting all my ducks in a row and doing research on things at the moment before I embark on a new journey.

So the guy that I bought my saltwater tank from has a nice piece of I guess you call it "branch coral" that is dead of course. I noticed it and thought it would be a neat piece for a yellow clown goby I plan to get. Anyways I asked him if he would sell it and he said that its been laying there on his shelf in his garage for over 5 years now (out of tank dry of course) and that he had used it in a quarantine tank and it was in the tank while copper was being used.

My questions are is there anyways to make that rock essentially "reef safe" again and remove the copper? Thanks for the comments/answers in advance.
