Thank you for welcoming me to TFT!! This will be my first post in which I hope I wont be wasting anyone's time.
I plan on using a 120g aquarium with dual overflows as my DT, and a 40g tank underneath for my sump/fuge. I've read up on the baffles for bubbles and what not, but came up with some things I have leftover from other set ups that I'd like critique on.
Is it possible to use a 40g tank as my overall sump tank, but fix a raised 5.5g tank inside of it as my fuge. The inlet would be ran into the raised fuge, which would spill over into the 40g tank with the skimmer, heaters, etc. I may have to do something with air bubbles, but would this system work? Is there any negative affect(s) of having the overflows spill directly into the refugium?
This will be my first salt water tank, though I have had success with many freshwater tanks.
If it's a much better option to just go for the glass slates and create baffles I can go that route, I just wanted to try and make due with what I already had on hand.
Thank you in advance, and thanks again for welcoming me!
