So I recently purchased a used 12g JBJ led cube to stick on my desk at the office so I can enjoy my hobby while I am at work.
I got everything cleaned and up and running on Monday, used purchased water at the LFS since I don't want to mix at work, about 5 pounds of live rock from the lfs and a small rock from my established 75 from home.
The funny thing is the rock I grabbed from home had some xenia on it ( I am in the process of removing it from my tank so I was going to dispose of it anyways) and the xenia and a small Kenye tree that is there as well are actually alive and doing well.
I am going to watch it for at least a week still before I put anything in it because I am still expecting a mini cycle, and one day really means nothing. Fed the tank yesterday and Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates are all zero today. PH is 7.4
I am impressed with those softies, they were on the rock in a bucket with no water for almost an hour before I threw them in the tank, different salinity and temp, and they are all doing fine. The Kenya tree faster than the xenia.
Thought it was interesting and was curious if anyone else had ever seen that.
Cheers,
-Majaii
