what about crushed coral?

So I have a sandy bottom. I have been good at keeping it clean but it is tricky. I need better finesse with the syphon. That will come in time I hope!



With all my rock I feel I cant do a good enough job. I feel like I have yet to clean behind the rock wall good enough.. I blow off all the rocks and blow the sand with the turkey baster but I feel I'm not really getting all the dirt. ( Maybe I am? ) I do see clack and dark partials in the bucket but I feel I should be seeing more...

I really like the way it looks and want to have something on the bottom. Can I switch over to crushed coral? I feel like I may be able to clean the bottom better.. And do you think I will be able to syphon out most of the sand? Will it be an issue if I put crushed coral on top of sand if I still have some I can't get out?

I don't want to go BB but I'm not sure I a different bottom will produce a better result. I don't mind cleaning I just don't know if I'm getting everything.. maybe I have too much rock?
