A new setup concept

I've been thinking of a new way to setup a system lately. I was thinking of just not having anywhere in the system for detritus to settle. Of course the exception would be the sandbed because it's just a trap.



Provided softies/lps are the must have organisms



The main exports would be the skimmer and of course a siphon



The sump wouldn't have a high turnover but would have high flow within it to keep detritus from settling



Detritus would be allowed to circulate throughout the system for whatever wants to feast on it to be able to, fish, coral and whatever else decides to. This I hope would give the system a type of 'there is always something to eat' approach.





Some things I've thought about but would like some input



Water quality. Will detritus be able to break down at a fast pace? Rising nutrient levels are not worth it.



Maintenance, I was thinking it would probably be best to cut a majority of the flow a day before maintenance day in order to export as much as possible because there will undoubtedly be detritus that just simply will not be consumed



Skimmer, I think the skimmer should be utilized to remove the least desirable foods/detritus. What do you think the least desirable detritus would be and how would you run a skimmer to achieve export?
