RO/DI Unit

So I know I am opening a a giant can of worms, but I have to ask.

I am looking to buy an RO/DI unit so I can stop going to the water company here in town to buy water,as it has gotten very old now after a year of stopping in for water each week.

With so many options I am completely confused about what to get.

My current tank is a a mix of softies and lps, I have no intention of going sps as I travel too much and that would be too much extra work for my wife when I am gone.

The water in the house goes through a whole house filter and then a softener. We have pretty hard water from the well the city pulls from for the city supply.

My plan is to put in a T from the cold water supply for the washing machine and run the unit in the laundry room to begin with or at least until we decide if we want to get drinking water from the RO side, I was also thinking of running my humidifier off RO to stop the scale up on the evaporator.

So to the point of the post...

Any recommendations?

Do I need one with a flush kit?
